VOCALSPERFORMANCE

What should singers do before a long rehearsal to avoid fading by the end?

MusicianSoundcheck

Long rehearsals can be rough on vocals, especially if the room is loud and everyone slowly turns up. I have seen singers sound great for the first hour and then start pushing harder as their voice gets tired.

What warm-ups, habits, or band setup choices help keep vocals healthy across a full rehearsal? I am also curious how much of it is technique versus simply getting the band to control stage volume.

Lower rehearsal volume helps more than people admit. If the singer has to shout, everyone else is already too loud.

Gentle warm-ups and water help, but pacing is just as important. Do not sing every song at gig intensity in rehearsal.

Having the vocal properly audible in the room stops the singer from overcompensating.
