BASSPERFORMANCE

What is the most useful thing to practise when you only have 20 minutes?

MusicianSoundcheck

Not every practice session can be a full deep dive. Some days there are only 20 minutes available, and I am trying to make those short sessions count instead of just noodling through familiar lines.

If you only had 20 minutes on bass, what would you prioritise? Time feel, scales, transcribing, playing with a metronome, learning a song section, right-hand consistency, or something else?

Ten minutes with a metronome on beats two and four will expose a lot. It is not glamorous, but it works.

I would pick one groove and make it feel better rather than trying to cover too much.

Short practice is perfect for muting. Clean silence between notes changes everything.
